Paulie is a very active individual who is a regular Devonport Parkrunner, keen cyclist and gym goer. He wanted to run the Cadbury Marathon for personal satisfaction and the huge sense of accomplishment from completing the distance. For Paulie, running is a place where he can focus on his mental health and run his thoughts away.
Impressively, Paulie competed in the Australian Master’s Games during his training for the marathon. He did us all proud with an excellent performance in the Duathlon which combined his passion for cycling and running. Paulie counts on the support of his wife and brother in law who were part of his running journey. Supporting others is something that Paulie has been passionate about from a young age. He recalls, “I can remember little athletics as a kid and I loved knowing it was running day but more on the helping others achieve there better times.”
While Paulie had suffered a few setbacks in training due to injury, he completed the 2018 Cadbury as an absolute champion and stayed true to his mantra of being “helpful and encouraging to others in preference to myself and my times.”
