Date: Sunday 29th October 2017
The Blue Tier is a picturesque part of the North East Tasmanian highlands. Beautiful rainforest, stunning man fern gullies and a network of excellent mountain biking trails make for brililant trail running. As the track winds its way alongside crystal clear mountain streams and through the Goblin Forest you could be forgiven for thinking you had stumbled into a Tolkien novel!!
The run starts and finishes at the Weldborough hotel. The accent follows the original Blue tier track with its granite slabs and boulders and the odd creek crossing. The smooth and fast descent follows the newly constructed Blue Tier single-trail mountain bike track back to the pub! The total distance is approximately 32km. We will have a time cut off at about the 11km mark where we can turn you around making the total distance 26km. This is to ensure we are all finished and off the track for before the mountain bikers hit the trails!
Compulsory equipment is required and includes: a thermal top, a space blanket, water (bladder or drink bottle), food (energy bar/gel/chocolate bar) and a roller bandage. A waterproof top and additional warm clothes/beanie/gloves are also suggested in case the weather gods do not smile on us!
There is accomodation, camping and meals available at the Weldborough hotel and there are also many accommodation options around the Derby/St Helens area if you wish to make a weekend of it – highly recommended!!!
Entry fee: $80 per person (includes trail fee)
Entry Cap: there is a cap of 200 runners per event (so enter early!!)
Run Start Time: The run will start at 6am, yes that is early but we have to be off the trails by 11am for the mountainbikers.
You must register (at the weldborough hotel) between 5:00 – 5:45am for a 6am start.
Early Bird Registration: held at the Weldborough hotel between 4-5pm on Saturday 28th October.
