parkrun is a FREE weekly timed event held right around the country on Saturday mornings. In Tasmania parkrun is held in 15 locations at 9am*:
- George Town
- Hobart (Risdon Brook Dam)
- Kingston Park
- Montrose Foreshore
- Port Sorell
- Queens Domain (Hobart)
- Whitemark Wharf (Flinders Island)
- Windsor Precinct (Riverside)
- Wynyard Foreshore
You register online and are given a paper barcode, which you print and bring along each week (it helps to laminate it, or you can purchase a keyring or wristband online). The events are casual and family-friendly. They give a race-brief each week, and upon finishing officials will scan your barcode (to record your time). If you forget your barcode, you can still run – you just won’t get a time.parkrun runs a strict no barcode no time policy.
You’ll be emailed your results later that day, including where you placed and whether it was a PB for you.
If you’re travelling interstate or overseas, you just take your barcode as per usual – there are over 350 locations across Australia and over 1200 worldwide that hold events every Saturday.
*Devonport starts at 8am.
