Nearly 20km in length, this shared-use pathway along Hobart’s Eastern Shore is a popular spot for weekend long runs.
Situated on the picturesque Eastern Shore of Hobart, with views of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington and the Derwent River right by your side along the whole track, the Clarence Foreshore trail is a multi-purpose track. The track follows the twists and turns of the Derwent River and its many bays. It is a mostly paved, undulating track that many runners, cyclist and walkers use daily.
Whilst you can start anywhere on the track, a common starting place is near Wentworth Park in Howrah. Following the track West to North-West will take you up over the beautiful bluffs of Bellerive, along Bellerive beach in the shadows of the iconic Ninja Arena, around Bellerive Quay and Kangaroo Bay, up over Rosny Point, around Montagu Bay and underneath the Tasman Bridge.
The track continues around Rose Bay and Simmons Park, Lindisfarne, before you must take a short detour up Natone Street and left at Talune Street, where you follow Talune Street until you are back on the trail. The track ends at the Geilston Bay Road.
This track is great for all kinds of runs, from long runs, to tempo runs and easy runs. The 2.5km stretch between Bellerive Beach Park and Wentworth Park is also the route for Bellerive parkrun every Saturday at 9am.
