St.Giles Burn

St.Giles Burn

19 October 2025 @ 5:00 am 6:00 am

Not quite a fun run, St.Giles Burn – formerly the Balfour Burn – is a 400 metre bolt up one of Launceston’s steepest streets, where the gradient reaches 25%  This community and family focused event was established in 2014, and since then thousands of Tasmanians have accepted the challenge to run, walk, or ride the up one of Launceston’s steepest hills.

The St.Giles Burn helps raise funds for items not covered by the NDIS, such as equipment upgrades, therapy resources, community programs and improvements to housing for people with a disability so they have a place that feels like home.

St.Giles Burn has been embraced by sportspeople like former World Tour cyclist Richie Porte, Commonwealth Games Triathlon gold medalist Jake Birtwhistle, and Australian cricketing legend David Boon.
